A Place to Call Home

When it comes to choosing the perfect camping destination, finding a site that combines natural beauty, tranquility, and a sense of community can elevate a simple trip into an unforgettable experience. "A Place to Call Home" in Colondale, Queensland offers just that. The allure of this enchanting location has definitely captured the heart of this adventurer and nature lover.

Leading up to my three nights away we had quite a bit of rain. I was definitely worried about how my Mazda 3 - which is quite low to the ground, was going to make it with all the weight of my gear and muddy tracks. After a breathtaking drive through Maleny, I received a very warm welcome from the hosts, followed but the news that my car would in fact not make it. Instead of leaving me standard, they helped me ferry my gear to my site on their buggy and found a safe space to store my car for the duration. The family that run the farm are just beautiful and from the moment I arrived, made it feel like I was a part of their family. It also helped that they loved Bentley (My golden retriever) and came to check in on me and get pats throughout my stay.

I was stoked to find that my site was nestled amidst lush greenery and had easy access to picturesque creek not more than 3 meters from my tent. Large trees surrounded the edge of the site that gave you shade during the day, but there was also plenty of sun for my solar panels! A Place to Call Home is situated on 22 acres of camping paradise nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Bentley and I spent the three days listening to the babbling water sounds of Scrubby Creek and the Mary River which meander through the perimeter of the property for over 1 kilometer. We strolled through the mini rainforest, paddled in the creek and had many dips in the many rock pools.

The campsite provides a great mix of open spaces and secluded nooks, catering to both groups looking for social gatherings and individuals seeking peace. Hikers and naturalists will praise the numerous walking trails and proximity to wildlife, and if you are lucky, you might find a Koala.

I found that camping at "A Place to Call Home" is not merely a getaway; it's an immersive experience in nature and community. The welcoming atmosphere, breathtaking landscapes, and commitment to creating lasting memories makes it clear why this campsite has garnered such a loyal following. For anyone looking to connect with nature and foster relationships with fellow adventurers, this Queensland gem is indeed a place to call home.
